Implementing organization:<\/b> Latvian Association of Structural Engineers.<\/p>\n

The aim of the project<\/b> is to conduct the competitiveness and quality of the Latvian construction industry by contributing the involvement of structural engineers, architects and geological engineers in the policy planning and legislation processes via supporting their public activities and mutual cooperation as well as to support acquisition of foreign financial instruments in the construction industry.<\/p>\n

Direct target group of the project<\/b> is constituted by the members of the Latvian Association of Structural Engineers, Latvian Geotechnical Society, Latvian Large Dams Association and the Association \u201cPassive House Latvia\u201d.<\/p>\n

Indirect target group of the project<\/b> is formed by all actual and potential specialists employed in the construction industry of Latvia and the Latvian society as a whole.<\/p>\n

Place or implementation of the project: City of Riga, the implementation period: 12 months.<\/p>\n

The topicality of the project is determined by the problems currently manifesting in the Latvian construction industry \u2014 badly organised legislation that applies to construction design development and supervision, as well as the low level of understanding among the general public about such concepts as high-quality construction process and the significance of the construction design in ensuring a sustainable construction process.<\/div>\n

Activities planned within the scope of the project:<\/b><\/div>\n

  1. Project administration;<\/li>\n
  2. Development of the LASE Quality Management Model;<\/li>\n
  3. Training about issues of Latvian and EU legislation, training about the possibilities to be granted by EU funds and foreign financial instruments and the implementation of such projects, workshop for developing an action plan for acquisition of EU financial instruments;<\/li>\n
  4. Improvement and hosting of LASE internet site www.lbpa.lv<\/a>;<\/li>\n
  5. Analysis of construction legislation of other countries;<\/li>\n
  6. Development of teaching aids (sample project) as an Annex to LASE standard LBPA-PS-001<\/a> \u201eStructural design content and form requirements\u201d;<\/li>\n
  7. Signing the memorandum of cooperation between NGO and the Cabinet of Ministers of LR;<\/li>\n
  8. Seminar about the project outcomes and publicity activities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Some of the main expected outcomes of the project are a fully developed LASE Quality Management Model that will further the public activities of the Association and its involvement in the drafting and improvement of legislation; more successful implementation of the LASE standard LASE-PS-001 \u201cStructural design content and form requirements\u201d in practice and in the study process with the help of teaching aids; informing the public about the significance of a high-quality construction design in ensuring sustainable construction, well developed mutual cooperation and an action plan for acquisition of EU financial instruments; involvement of the members in the drafting and improvement of legislation regulating the Latvian construction industry and science.<\/p>\n

    92.07% of the Project is financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund. The sub-activity is administered by State Chancellery in cooperation with the Society Integration Foundation (SIF).<\/p>\n
